Evening Magazine viewers name The Woods Coffee the Best Coffee Shop in Western Washington for the second time in three years

For the second time in three years, The Woods Coffee has been voted the Best Coffee Shop on KING 5’s “Best of Western Washington” competition. This year marks the company’s second First Place award from the annual “Best of” contest, hosted by KING 5’s Evening Magazine TV program. After winning the title in 2009, and then coming in Third Place in 2010, Woods has taken First Place once again.

The Woods Coffee is the only company ever to take First Place in the Best Coffee Shop category more than once.“It’s an honor to win this award once, in this part of the country where coffee is such a big deal, but twice is over the top!” said Wes Herman, owner of The Woods Coffee. “It’s still hard to believe that a company from our little community could even stand a chance against those in the larger cities throughout Western Washington, but it just goes to show how passionate we are about our coffee and about serving our customers.”

In 2011, The Woods Coffee opened their eleventh coffee shop, in the former Tully’s Coffee location on the Guide Meridian in Bellingham. Also in 2011, the company began selling their own line of fresh, in-house baked goods at all of their coffee shops throughout Whatcom County. The Woods Coffee will celebrate 10 years of business shortly after the start of the new year. “Our thanks go out to all of those who voted for us again this year,” said Herman. “Without the support of our customers and this community, we wouldn’t have the honor of being named Best Coffee Shop of Western Washington for the second time in three years, and we wouldn’t be celebrating our 10-year anniversary in February.”

A total of 353 Northwest coffee companies were nominated for this year’s Best Coffee Shop of Western Washington award. Voting for this year’s contest was held between August 29 and October 9, and The Woods Coffee was named the voter’s choice for Best Coffee Shop on Friday, October 28.
